Complete Cast Announced for Howard Barker's A Hard Heart

Epic Theatre Ensemble has announced the complete cast for the New York premiere of Howard Barker's A Hard Heart, Directed by Will Pomerantz, the play will begin previews on October 30 at the Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row and open on November 11, running through December 2.

Joining the previously announced Kathleen Chalfant in the lead role of Riddler will be Epic founding producing artist Melissa Friedman Einstein's Gift, Hannah and Martin as Praxis, Dion Graham Not About Nightingales, TV's The Wire as Plevna, Alex Organ For Art, The Chimes as the Sentry, Thom Sesma The Times They Are A-Changin', Miss Saigon, Titanic, Man of La Mancha as Seemore, Epic founding producing artist James Wallert Widowers' Houses, Einstein's Gift as Atilla and Epic produing artist Sarah Winkler Einstein's Gift as the Woman.

Written long before 9/11, the Patriot Act, the new Pope and the current immigration debate, A Hard Heart explores the ways we protect our political and human borders. Barker's prophetic drama imagines a country facing invasion. Praxis' the Queen enlists the Genius Riddler to devise a strategy to protect their threatened culture, but is the sacrifice too much? Epic Theatre Ensemble is proud to finally bring this chilling tale to our own city under siege.
